By providing a safe, stable, and structured environment, Comfy Homes offers young people the opportunity to learn practical skills such as cooking, budgeting, cleaning, and managing appointments, while still having access to guidance and encouragement from trained staff. Support workers can tailor assistance to each young person’s needs, helping them build confidence, resilience, and decision-making skills at their own pace. Alongside practical support, young people are encouraged to engage with education, training, or employment, develop positive routines, and learn how to manage relationships and emotions. This balanced approach of support and independence empowers young people to take responsibility for their lives and prepares them for successful, independent living in adulthood.

At Comfy Homes we actively support 16–18 year olds with their education by creating a stable and nurturing environment that enables them to engage positively with learning. Staff can help young people access and remain in education by supporting college or school applications, liaising with education providers, and encouraging regular attendance and punctuality. Within the Home, young people can be supported to develop effective study routines, manage coursework, and build motivation and confidence in their abilities. Practical support such as providing quiet study spaces, access to resources, and help with time management further reduces barriers to learning. By promoting the value of education and offering consistent encouragement and guidance, At Comfy Homes we help young people stay focused on their goals and improve their long-term outcomes.

At Comfy Homes our staff play a key role in preparing 16–18 year olds for work life by helping them develop the skills, attitudes, and confidence needed for employment. Staff can support young people to explore career interests, create CVs, complete job applications, and prepare for interviews. Young people are encouraged to build positive routines, such as timekeeping, personal presentation, and reliability, which are essential for the workplace. Our staff at Comfy Homes can also help individuals access work experience, apprenticeships, training, or volunteering opportunities, while providing ongoing encouragement and practical guidance. Through structured support and real-life learning, young people gain a clearer understanding of workplace expectations and are better equipped to move into employment or further training successfully.
